Who we help
Our clinic is part of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). We file returns for free for people with a modest income and a simple tax situation, including:
- Seniors with pension income
- Students
- Newcomers to Canada filing for the first time
- Families with employment income or benefits
- People on social assistance or disability benefits
We can’t help with self-employment income, rental income, capital gains, bankruptcy, or a return for someone who has died. Not sure if you qualify? Read the CRA’s page on free tax clinics, or just call us.
Why filing matters
Even with little or no income, filing a return keeps your GST/HST credit, Canada Child Benefit, Ontario Trillium Benefit and Guaranteed Income Supplement coming. A missed return can mean missed payments.
When and where
- Season: tax season, through April 30
- Hours: 1:00 to 4:00 pm, 45-minute appointments
- Location: confirmed when you book. We have run clinics virtually and at the Jane/Sheppard branch of the Toronto Public Library.
- Cost: free. Volunteers never accept payment.
What to bring
- Photo ID and your Social Insurance Number
- All tax slips (T4, T4A, T4A(P), T4A(OAS), T5, T2202 and others)
- Receipts for rent or property tax, medical expenses, donations and childcare
- Last year’s Notice of Assessment, if you have it
- Banking details for direct deposit

We opened our first virtual tax clinic on March 1, 2021, with 5 CRA-trained volunteers. Since then we have partnered with the Jane/Sheppard branch of the Toronto Public Library, and received CRA Certificates of Appreciation for our 2024 and 2025 seasons.
